Abstract

The Sharia Savings and Loan Cooperative (KSPPS) plays an essential role in improving members' welfare through Sharia principles and legal foundations, as regulated by Law Number 25 of 1992 concerning Cooperatives. However, KSPPS often faces various challenges, such as low member participation, limited operational areas, and a lack of public understanding about cooperatives. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document studies at the Al-Ishlah Mitra Sejahtera (AIMS) KSPPS branch in Kuningan. AIMS KSPPS implements a Sharia-based management mechanism, including member registration, provision of savings, and financing processes emphasizing transparency, accountability, and fairness. KSPPS also contributes to improving economic welfare through savings and loan services, micro-business financing, and profit-sharing (SHU), as well as social welfare through programs such as insurance, donations, and member training. The challenges faced include competition with other financial institutions, low member participation, and minimal promotion. To address these challenges, KSPPS needs to enhance promotion, diversify products, expand operational areas, and adopt digital technology. These efforts align with the legal principles of Sharia cooperatives to promote sustainable welfare. AIMS KSPPS plays a significant role in improving members' welfare through Sharia-based management and legal support, though strategic improvements in certain aspects are still required..
