PERAN AGAMA DALAM PENDIDIKAN AKHLAK DAN BUDAYA: PERSPEKTIF PENDIDIKAN ISLAM

Abstract

Religion plays a fundamental role in shaping moral character and culture within the framework of Islamic education. Amid globalization, technological advancement, and shifting social values, moral degradation and the erosion of cultural identity have become significant challenges that require comprehensive educational responses. This study aims to analyze the role of religion in moral and cultural education from the perspective of Islamic education. The research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected from primary sources, including the Qur'an and Hadith, as well as books, scientific journals, and other relevant academic literature on Islamic education, moral education, and cultural studies. The data were analyzed using descriptive content analysis through data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and synthesis of relevant concepts. The findings indicate that religion serves as the primary foundation for developing moral values, ethical behavior, and cultural identity. Islamic education emphasizes not only the transmission of knowledge but also the internalization of religious values to develop individuals with strong faith, noble character, and social responsibility. Furthermore, Islamic education promotes the integration of religious teachings with positive cultural values while preserving local wisdom that aligns with Islamic principles. The study also highlights the importance of collaboration among families, schools, communities, and governments in strengthening moral education, particularly in addressing the challenges posed by the digital era and globalization. Therefore, religion remains an essential pillar in fostering morally upright individuals and cultivating a dignified culture that contributes to a harmonious, ethical, and sustainable civilization.
