Abstract: This article discusses the tradition of bahitung ari in Banjar society as a preparation for determining a good day before marriage. This practice involves calculations based on the Hijri calendar and traditional guidelines that are believed to bring blessings. With a literary approach that can be known from an Islamic perspective, bahitung ari is allowed as long as the belief still relies on the will of Allah SWT. This article also analyzes the tradition in the framework of maqashid sharia, showing how bahitung ari can contribute to the protection of religion, reason, and heredity. Thus, this tradition is considered a form of local wisdom that is in harmony with the principles of monotheism
